Low Carb Flax Tortillas

If you are looking for a low car, gluten free tortilla look no further this easy flax tortillas are for you! With only few simple ingredients yo can make the best tortillas high on fibre, low carb and tasty tortillas for tacos, wraps etc! So lets get to it


This are perfect for a healthy and low carb taco night or to use for wraps! they are very easy to make and with only 3 ingredients and 10 min you can have the best healthy tortillas.


Low Carb Flax Tortillas


Serves: 4-6

Prep Time: 5 min

Cooking Time: 10 min


Ingredients

  • 1 cup flaxseeds (170 g)

  • 1 cup boiling water (250 ml)

  • 1/4 tsp Salt

  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder (optional)

  • 1/2 tsp Onion or garlic powder (optional)

Method

  1. Place flaxseeds in a high-speed blender or food processor and pulse until they reach a fine, flour consistency. (Skip this step if you are using ground flaxseeds.)

  2. In a saucepan, boil the water and add the spices. Once the water is boiling, remove from heat and add the ground flaxseeds. Mix using a spatula, mix the ingredients until flaxseeds absorb the water and form a ball. (This takes about 2-3 minutes.)

  3. Remove the dough from the pan and place it on a non-stick surface. Let it cool off before start rolling.

  4. Separate the dough into 4 equal parts.Place each part of the dough ball between two pieces of parchment paper and roll them with a wooden roller. They should be quite thin.

  5. Take pan lid place it on top of the thin layer, cut around the edge with a knife to make the tortilla. (Use remaining dough to make another one).

  6. Repeat the process with rest dough. Cook each tortilla in a non stick pan at medium heat for 1 minute, then flip and cook other side for 30 seconds. Kepp the cooked tortillas wrapped with a clean kitchen towel while you cook the rest to keep them soft and warm.

Note: Keeps on the fridge for up to 2 days. Reheat by cooking again for 30 seconds each side on a pan or skillet.
